- The game plays the same fixed animation as the master fire spell, complete with the gesture of smashing the hands on the ground which isn't ideal since it's a projectile spell.
- The camera is very much fixed in place with only a tiny bit of room to move up/down which is fine for a point blank spell but poor for an aimed bolt.
- The bolt is launched not from the hands but from some space above the head which is very off.
I suppose the "solution" here goes through making a new set of animations which is kinda out of my league for now. Unless there's something I'm missing?
Another issue I'm looking at. The cast time and "cooldown". Cast times are damn easy to change really. Firebolt with 0s cast time is fun I tell you
(but still poor damage). Problem is, the spell "cooldown" seems to be entirely controlled by, you guess it? By the cast animation I'd say if there's one. And there's practically none so with that change, you can rapid fire the spell at an insane rate. Unfortunately, I found no way to control that post cast "cooldown". I'm not exactly talking about some MMO style cooldowns here. Even a 0.5s or 1s pause would be ok. I suppose I can control that aspect through the animation system tough. I just hope those can be tweaked.Lastly, an issue I have with magic is the controls themselves. I don't like how it works at all. Those are the two problems I have which are somewhat OK by themselves but together aggravate me :
- if I press the mouse button at a moment where I cannot start casting a spell, the action is IGNORED.
- you need to keep the button pressed during the whole cast time or the spell is canceled.
By my experience, the combo of those two together make the magic painful to use for destruction mages. Unfortunately, while I see where the rest of "settings" I'd want to change are defined, I saw nothing at all controlling those aspects of magic. So, if someone has an idea where to change that I'll be happy to oblige
