Saving with skyrim open

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:44 pm

Hey guys.

I know this is probably the stupidest tread ever but I would like to know if it is at all possible to save and reload your work with the creation kit without having to go the through the loading up the game every time?

thanks :).

I don't know but you can try with Skyrim in windowed mode, say a third or half res you normally play at then reload a save game and see if your changes are reflected.

A fresh game load is usually the only way though as lot's of information is cached upon game load that won't necessarily be updated upon a save load.

I'm not speaking from experience though so maybe it will work! *shrug*

Nope. If a plugin is in use by the game or anything else, it'll aptly yell at you with an error regarding your file being read only or in use by another program.

To save time between reloads while playtesting, set...
[General]sIntroSequence=
...in Skyrim.INI and you can skip the spinning gear .BIK

thanks for that one - i'd also recommend setting bAllowUnsafeSave=1 (still save/close open scripts before saving!) and bAllowMultipleEditors=1 in skyrimeditor.ini (under programfiles\x86\steam\steamapps etc something like that)
