How to get a friendly dragon to land

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:05 am

I made a simple dragon companion mod, but it has a flaw: when combat starts, he takes off, flies around strafing the baddies, but when combat is over, he keeps flying, and won't stop. How do i get him to stop, land and resume following me?

How did you get the dragon companion to work? I've been trying to make one for a mod of my own, but i can't get it to talk to me, even after duplicating an existing companion and changing it into a dragon. If I can get it working, I can have a play around with different options and see if I can help you with your problem, but no promises as I only starting modding this week.

"pa " (where is an action (I believe you can find it by "help fly 0"), something like FlyStop). I don't have a copy of Skyrim here, so can't help you with the specific ID. He won't land immediately but will find a "safe spot" to land (how this is determined I don't know).

I have my dragon companion working like a normal companion for the most part, all the follower commands work and it follows and fights with you but as others have said they fly off after a fight and don't always come back till you fast travel but they don't land, they fly next to you and clip into the ground or get stuck under you, the only way i have been able to get them to land is tell them to wait here and they will fly up and land, then tell them to follow again and you can continue adventuring.

Things i need to figure out is ...

- how to get them to land on their own after the fight is over
- how to make not follow so close, but move faster so they keep up
- how to make them not spawn so close when fast traveling so you don't get stuck in them (for those who fast travel)
- how to make them wait outside when you enter city's dungeons etc etc

Also Scaling, i would like to make a dragon about half the size but when you scale them down it makes their animations go wonky and they clip into the ground i guess this would require new meshes and other things made to fit the scale though.

A few other minor annoyances but for the most part it works well.
