Failed to write mod file to the cloud?

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:13 pm

No matter what I do, I keep getting that message. I made an eye mod that adds well over 100 new eye selections to character creation and want to put it up on steamworkshop.
Only the CK keeps doing this to me: "failed to wite mod file to the cloud"..... What can I do? I contacted support yesterday and no answers from them, not yet at least.
Any ideas? Any help?

Have you created a proper BSA-archive with your eye textures? I assume the option pops up before you upload your mod to Steam.
Speaking of Steam... have you connected to Steam in online mode? Have you tried to logout and re-connect?

If nothing helps, how about you release the mod on the Nexus for now, and try uploading to the Steam Workshop after the next update?

Steam is set up properly. Cloud is enabled, and the archive has been made, re made, and made over again more than a few times. Logging out and reconnecting dose nothing. And it is up at nexus. I want to be able to use steamworkshop like everyone else. All the support messaging has been an absolute waste of my time. Its like I am the very minority, and since that is the case I am being ignored, even though this is a valid issue.
This makes me wonder if there is a limit to what can be added to your mods in the CK and uploaded. Over 100 eyes( actually 200) is quite a lot of additions. I wonder if the bsa archiving is affected by the so many eye textures and it effects the upload process to steamworkshop. The archiving happens fine now, it just still refuses to upload to the workshop. I am beyond frustrated now.

DorkDiva,

I also get that message. The problem is not in the size of the file as it says something like: "required 184 Mb, available 1024 Mb". If the problem is in the number of files inside the BSA then the CK doesn't warn about that :(

Speaking of the steam cloud, I have it enabled, but changes I make at work aren't reflected at home...any idea why?

Anybody know how to make Steam Cloud work properly? It's definitely enabled in Steam...is there another setting somewhere in the CK that enables/disables the cloud or something? If so, I haven't found it yet...

I have the same problem.
"Failed to write the mod file to the cloud" when trying to upload (archive works fine). I've been trying lots of different things now for the last two days with no luck.
No error code, no description of what triggers the error.

Screenshot: i.minus. com/i8 HPL40Rc ajgr.png (sorry, not allowed to post links for some reason on this forum)

The error message offers no error code or explanation, so it doesn't give any hint at what's wrong. The .esp and archive (.bsa) works fine as far as I can tell.

The mod is 160 MB, and I have 975 MB available for storage on Steam, so that's probably not problem.

Right now I can only update my mod on the nexus - not in the workshop. Very frustrating when I have like 2000 subsribers who won't get the updates...

I had this and I think I figured out what causes it: You get this message if you launch CK directly instead through Steam.

Can anyone confirm this?

dudster: Launching from steam, problem is there. Launching without steam; steam starts by itself. I figure it's unrelated.

taewon: this thread is not about Error 11... We have a different (not numbered) error.
