SoulMart.

All they carry is cheap Chinese made souls that break in like a week.

Mammoths are the easiest way. Other than that: Dragon Priests (not all that common), Draugr Over-super-death-lord-overlords (you know what i mean, not that common either).

I have loads of Black and Grand Soul gems, I just need to find a place where high level enimes are to put Grand souls into them.

Black soul gems trap people.

Go to azura's shrine, do the quest. IMO the black version is more useful as you can collect peoples souls very easily.

Yeah, I took the Azura's Star and am really regretting it. I am level 41 and have not encountered a single creature with a grand soul. All I can find is common souls and a rare occassional greater soul. I know I could kill a mammoth, but I am not really into that, although I have no problem dropping a few giants if they get too close to me . . .

There should be more creatures with grand souls at higher levels. Next time I am taking the Black Star.

I also think the black star is bugged and takes the souls of everything ha, for me it does anyway.

You can buy plenty of grand souls from merchants, I get all mine from general merchants and I sell potions to get my money back.

yeah azura's star is basically useless compared to the black star...i wish i would've known earlier on that creatures with grand souls are so few and far between before i chose (since I don't like going out and killing mammoths for no reason). I usually just find filled grand soul gems or buy them and save them up for enchanting. Definitely go with the black star if you haven't done azura's quest yet

Go into more tombs. Maybe it's because I'm level 53 but I always find some Death Lords or Scourges. But I also found plenty of Death Lords in my upper 40s.

There is a secret place with easy grand souls. Actually not so secret, it's those corrupted shades in Meridia's Temple. They don't respawn and is scaled to your level so it might be the factor to determine what gem their souls fill. I was 40+ level at that time.

A level 39 mammoth beat a level 81 corrupted soul with 40% health to spare. So corrupted souls are the way to go although limited.

Dragons, Mammoths, Dragon Priests, Draugr Deathlords, and normal people all provide Grand souls. Deathlords I believe are captured in Black Soul Gems, as I had an empty one, killed a Restless Draugr, and it filled with a common soul.
I seriously don't even take advantage of my bow's soul trap feature when it comes to this. I loot a lot of stuff, go to soulmart, and pretty much barter my loot for Grand Soul Gems
