Lights - Shadows Omnidirectional

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 5:10 pm

I'm working on lighting an exterior cell I've been working on. I wanted the brazier lights to cast shadows. The lights work.

The problem is, in game they only stay on when viewed from a certain angle/distance with the camera. For example I can be a good 5 feet from one of these placed lights and it'll cast shadows and the light source will actually light up the surrounds. But if I turn my character away to the left or the right just slightly, the light AND shadow just disappear. I don't have any custom settings on my INI's so that can't be it, can it? I'm also not running any post processing mods like ENB or the Injectors.

Anyone care to shed some light on this problem? (no pun intended.) How can I fix this? As it is right now, only 2 of these placed lights are actually staying put, regardless of direction/angle viewed from.

You can only have a maximum of four shadow lights active at one time. If you have more than that, they'll disable oddly like that.

Okay thanks. Is there a way to change that option? In Prefs or Skyrim INI?

Nah, the performance is too negatively affected. Use one or two shadow lights and the rest as NS lights.

You can get more per cell by using rooms and portals.
