Clarification on 'ravage' healthmagickastamina effects

I'm wondering how the 'ravage' magic effects work. The UESP says ravage health works like a damage health poison, but also reduces max health permanently (unless recovered by using potions or a shrine, something enemies don't do). So if a troll with 100 hp and 200 max hp would get hit by a ravage health poison for 10 points of damage he would have 90 hp and 190 max hp.

But when I look at the magic effect in the CK it has 'recovery' checked. So normally it should work like a drain health potion in Oblivion or not? Reduce the enemies max health and health by the specified amount and reapply the subtracted amount after the poison effect wears off. So the troll would have 90 hp and 190 hp max for the duration of the poison effect and once the poison wears off he should be back at 100/200 max.

So how does it really work?

EDIT: Nevermind, I tested it. It works like a drain health potion, UESP is wrong.
