Left and Right hand spells

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 3:17 pm

OK, I'm just about ready to try my first spell out...I think I have the parts working, BUT...

The spell is in two parts, right and left hand, and each does something different.

A spell tome can apparently teach only one spell. But I see that many spells have three definitions...one using the left hand, one using the right hand, and one (presumably for dual casting) that uses both hands.

As long as they all use the same name in the "name" field, are they all taught by the same tome? I would think so, but I'm not sure.

instead of using the different hands, u can just use the norm. one. First, go to spell effects. Whatever you want to model your spell off of (art wise) you should duplicate. Next, go to the ID and set it, change the name of the effect as well. Make as much different effects as you want. Now you go to the actual spell, duplicate art wise again. Set the spell effect to the effect you just made and delete the prior one if you do not want that effect. If you made more than one, click add and find your file. Now, go to the spell tombs section. Based on whatever spell you modeled your own after, your going to want to pick that spell tomb, duplicate it, and replace the spell that it TEACHES (not upgrade skill) with the spell that you just made. Now, just add the tomb to wherever in your game and you are set. Hope this helps :)

As far as I'm aware, the "left hand only" and "right hand only" variants are for creatures that can't equip spells that use the "either hand" equip type.
