Any Benifit using the Skyforge? : V

After playing the game for many hours and started a new character. After playing I say 50 hours or so, I have just noticed the Skyforge. I can't believe I missed it all these times. So is there any benifit using the Skyforge than saying any other forge? Are the weapons or Armour made stronger or more powerfull?

I haven't really crafted much, made a dagger. and improved my sword that is about its, so I am not sure what to expect when forging.

So any benifit besides being cool looking, have any other benifits using the Skyforge?

To cut the long story short,

it's identical to any other forge untill you finish Companions' quest line. After that you will be able to make Ancient Nord armor (Identical to Iron armor in stats) and Nord Hero weapons (Identical to Skyforge steel/Elven weapons).
