Making and modifying graphical effects

Hi

I've used the GECK a bit so I'm fine for making levels and weapons, but I'd like to be able to create some visual effects, but I'm having trouble finding a start point.

One thing I'd like to do it take the dragon death shader (their flash burning awa and leaving their skeleton) and apply it to humanoids. I belive this should be possible, transitioning from the normal mesh to the skeleton mesh, to my mind this should be a matter of making a copy of whatever script is run when a dragon dies, and apply it to the humanoid, only turning them into a human skeleton (and I know this will look weird with Argonians and Khajit) instead of dragon skeletons. So far I've not been able to find the scripts or objects involved, can anyone show me where they are? And is it possible to preview the effect in the creation kit render window, rather then load up Skyrim each time I want to try it out?

I don't understand. If there is a way to preview effects within the CK I've not found it.

I'm not really sure what you are asking about, but there is a preview window in the editor. It will show FX.

http://www.creationkit.com/Preview_Window

Click View (next to Edit, next to File).
Also, you can preview effects in the render window by clicking the animate lights and effects button, right next to the run havock sim button.
If this isn't applicable, apologies.
