Adding a recorded voice to your NPC tutorial

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 3:10 pm

I am having the hardest time getting a recorded voice into skyrim. I have been looking for hours about how to do it and the best I can find is at the end of the dialog tutorial on the creation kit wiki.(I dont have permissions to hotlink) Its just stitched on as to say, hey, you can do this too.

Where do I put my voice files?
how can I make a new voice type?
Do I need a new voice type?
etc.

If someone knows of a tutorial that could help me do this I would be very greatful.
Otherwize If you know how to do it, would you mind helping me work through my mod?

I am making a new singing bard.

I would be thankful for any help that can get my bard up and working. he just sits there, so sad...so lonely.

Where do I put my voice files:
When you record and SAVE your record (I didn't see the save-button at first, but it is there), a folder with correct sub-folders will be automatically created in your Sound/voice folder. (You might prefer to record using another program - I use Audacity - but still, make one bogus-recording with the ck, because then you will get the correct folder setup without having to think about it.

How can I make a new voice type:
In the scroll-list to the left (with actors, quests, etc), there is also a section for voice. Here, you can right-click and create your own new voicetype.

Do I need a new voice type:
Not necessarily. If you are making an unique npc, you can filter all your voice-entries so that they are only available for him. You can use the RandomEnd option to prevent him from using voice-entries by other bards. If you are using an existing quest for your work, many of the quests are in fact filtered for voice-type, which might give you additional problems if you try to use an unique voice-type.

Hope this is of some use :)
