Seems completely impossible to enlarge cities :

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 5:12 pm

I've spent hours trying every possible combination of city walls and ground pieces in Solitude in an attempt to create a little space, but due to the way these outdoors objects are designed it seems any attempt to align them in any way other than their default exact positions won't work. even worse you cannot create terrain on top of objects, it has to be raised from sea level. and the area surrounding the city is unsuitable to add structures to so you can't create a sort of "outskirts" area

anyone had any luck with it? care to share your experience and some tips ?

How did you figure this end up in the Mods section, instead of the Creation Kit?

It is very possible, but you'd need to use your imagination as to how you connect pieces together if you stick to the vanilla assets. Indeed, Solitude and its components were created with that particular setting in mind, so it follows that it would not be easy to arrange them any other way, and you'd have to get creative in the use of the assets and even modify the terrain a bit.

As for creating terrain on top of objects? I don't get it.

I can think of a great way to expand Markath. When talknig to all the people in teh city, the way they described the place where the miners lived, I thought it would be an underground Labarynth. When all I saw was a short cave with the odd sick person (who wouldnt let me heal their disease), I was very dissapointed.

Because its a cave, it wouldnt be too hard to edit to enlarge, or add a doorway to a brand new cell you create. (be imaginative and create something akin to Blackreach with lots fo people!

I don't understand... it's not at all difficult to edit the terrain in Skyrim. Also, for Solitude, the perfect way to add in buildings would be to take out that pointless second wall outside the castle and put buildings there instead. That and the corner opposite could fit some smaller buildings.
