Hero in Oblivion is the one that brings the imperial army in

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 7:32 pm

Just reading another thread and at the end of oblivion this is told to you and we know that the oblivion series is before skyrim obviously but when this is said:

When the next Elder Scroll is written, you shall be its scribe. The shape of the future, the fate of the Empire - these things, now, belong to you.

Does this mean that your character in oblivion was the one that decides to basically invade skyrim?

The empire considers Skyrim to be a part of it so you can't invade yourself. The Empire came to put down what they see as a rebellion.

No.
That is a metaphor and it means that the Champion of Cyrodiil was very important to the future of Tamriel.
It should not be taken literally.

(Elder Scrolls are not written. They are.)

Also, Oblivion was set 200 years before the events of Skyrim.
Depending on circumstances, the Champion is long dead or has moved on, away from mortal concerns.

No, Skyrim is already a part of the Empire. They are simply rebelling against the Empire due to the banning of Talos worship

I'd say no, basically because lore-wise, the Elder Scrolls are already written, and not by man or mer.

The champion is actually sheogorath... And I'm not kidding I'm pretty sure the champion eventually became sheo.

Thats a very odd thing to say, really.
So all I have to do not to be an invader is to declare it was mine all along?
Hm.

Of course, Should've thought of that the champion is dead or turned into sheo?
But the imperials laws were already apart of skyrim?

The Nords basically founded the Empire (Talos, anyone?), so yes, I'd say Skyrim is an integral part of the Empire.

They are, we just have to see what the future will hold for Skyrim what with the civil war. It also remains to be seen if the empire will even stay together, I hope so but its possible they fall with the weak state they are in.

Yes that is true, and Skyrim has been a part of the Empire for a very long time.
Mind that this was the Septim Empire which had ties all the way to Alessia and a different one from the Mede Empire alltogether.

Still, you cant just say it was yours all along and not be an invader.
Its more complicated than that and ultimately has to do with what the people who live there want.

It`s not uncommon for a nation to say a certian place always belonged to it then use that as an excuse to invade.

Happened in real life quite a lot in the past.

The imperials have always been in skyrim, given that Tiber Septim aka Talos was a Nord who conquered and united the empire.

skyrim was always a part of the empire. it was the sons of skyrim themselves, tiber septim, who FOUNDED the empire. the imperials are not an invading force, the stormcloaks are a rebellion, a civil war.

Skyrim is the birthplace of humans as we know them, and the Empire. It was the FIRST province of the Empire, which was made by Talos.

MANY of the citizens of Skyrim see that. I'd wager there are more Imperial supporters than Stormcloaks, by a fairly large margin. Mainly because Ulfric is literally trying to forcefully conquer anybody that disagrees with him using his army, so he can claim the throne of High Kind and rule with an iron fist that the people he manipulated to follow him bled to give him.

Seriously, the Empire is more than justified with their presence in Skyrim.
