skyrim textures

Post » Mon Jun 18, 2012 8:47 pm

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and after a bit of reading around on other threads I thought I'd ask a question.

I bought a new copy of Skyrim the other day, as well as a pre-owned xbox.

Only got a 20GB HDD but that's enough for me for now as I only have Skyrim to play.
I believe that the Dashboard etc is running the latest version.

I've heard about the Skyrim/HDD/Texture issues and I wanted to check it out for myself.
Running from disc, it sounded like a typewriter being kicked down some stairs, so noisy! but the textures seemed ok to me (granted I'm not 100% sure what I'm looking for)

Running from HDD once installed I noticed the hands and weapons looked alot less nice, low res textures and less detailing etc...
I do not have access to the internet at my flat atm, so I cannot update patches through Xbox Live.

Ideally I'd like to have the game installed on the HDD, as it's so much quicker to load and quiter etc...
But naturally I'd like to have the best graphical quality possible, is it possible to install the patches via USB Pen Drive?

Any particular patches working better than others?

Thanks everyone,

T-L-H

Sorry lad, you will have to download the patch if you want to run the game from the HDD. If not then just run it from the DVD. In other words DO NOT install it. Oh and I forgot to say that if you play without any patches, you will probably run into most of the bugs and broken quests.

Welcome to the forums, T-L-H;

The latest patch 1.4 is large enough that it installs itself on your HD, so no, there is no way to find that with a USB and transfer it to another box.
You could take your box to a friends house, connect to Xbox Live there so that it downloads.

As to your question about any patches working better than others? It's all one patch. You don't get a choice, it's integrated each time. Also, you might want to wait as there's a new patch 1.5 coming soon (hopefully this week).

This^

I'd wait until 1.5 is released. Also, you can setup your gamertag to just be a reg. "Silver" Account. Which allows you access to the marketplace and be able to download Updates for games. You don't necessarily have to have Gold just to get TU's.

Well .. i dont know if i;m lack blind and never seen the difference in textures .. But it feels like my Skyrim game becomes BUTT ugly as well.... Honestly it looks like a N64/PSX game... I don't know what to do.. I cleared cash... I uninstalled it from my drive.. Reinstalled it on my drive ... Deleted 150 of the 155 save games.. And still skyrim looks likes [censored].

I hope it is not my Xbox nor my Tv that died... Because i buyed a new Full HD television just to enjoy of the graphs skyrim could give me....

Now im a real sad Panda :(!
