Cannot set Relationships with custom new NPC's?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:00 am

I'm trying to make a follower in Skyrim, and all I have to do right now is set a few Relationships to "Ally". I can do it with anyone, except custom / new NPC's, making creating followers impossible. I've tried reloading and restarting and nothing seems to be working.

Does anyone else have this issue / know a solution?

More information would be helpful--post the error message you're getting, or a screenshot showing the problem.

That would be a problem, because the problem is that, well, it's not there. When you go to an actor's "relationship" box, right click and "add" a new relationship, my custom npc is not present in Child NPC or Parent NPC drop down boxes.

I had the same problem; make sure the NPCs you're using are flagged as 'unique' :)

Did you make your NPC unique ("Unique" checkbox checked in their Actor window)? Can you post a screenshot of your NPC's Actor window?

Edit: ninja'd!

Even with that flag, relationships you create will not appear in the drop down..

you need to add them to the potentialmarriagefaction (and potentialfollowerfaction) as well. The actor voices also will affect if they can be married or a follower. I am testing out the different voices to see which work but Soldier (relationship and follower) I know doesn't work for them nor does commoner (as a follower). Did you also add the packages for them?

I'm also having a problem with this. I got one follower to work, and was able to have him follow me in game and also married him. However, when I tried to do the same thing with another NPC in the same cell, doing all the same steps (only making her a different person), it does not work. There is no error message and I am able to see her relationship set to Player (Child NPC) as Ally. There is no dialogue in game other than "Hi." "How can I help you, friend?" and "*Grunt*". What am I doing wrong?

Before anyone asks, yes her current companion thing is set to -1 and I have tried this with both a duplicated (and changed ID) Mjoll and a new NPC. I've also tried to copy the NPC follower that I made and works, but that had no impact. This female NPC is a stubborn creature.

If someone could check out my mod it would be really helpful. It's listed as The Den in Steam.

Mjoll has a pre-assigned quest before she becomes a follower that is why, it is under the RiftenMjollMarket9x3 package or under a package given, also you never placed your copy in the world yet you have to add your new one for it to work.
