Objects from Tamriel worldspace showing up in interior cells

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:28 am

I'm creating two new caves and have spent time editing both the interior and exterior cells. Yesterday, while I was working on one of my interior cells, I noticed some objects off in the distant void. When I went closer to them, I discovered that they were two huge clusters of clouds (from the sky outside, which I hadn't even touched!), a bridge I had placed outside my cave, and a couple of rocks and trees. When I went to the exterior cell, these items were missing.

It happened again with my second cave, which is up near the Throat of the World. One of the hovering dragons from the cell outside mysteriously appeared off in the void in the interior cell. I never once even clicked on any of them while working on the exterior cell.

Is this a bug, or is it something I did? I can't imagine how it could be the latter, as I'm very careful about what I'm doing and don't do just click on things willy-nilly. It's very frustrating

Hm. Mind if I toss in a variation?

I've been remodeling Breezehome, much of which is throwing out all the junk that's there before the decoration packages are applied. I went into the game to visit my project and when I was inside I could hear a clanking noise. It's the sort you hear when small objects collide with each other, like a plate on a table you sit next to. The sound was coming from the west wall, or beyond it.

So I opened the console, entered "tcl" and went into the void to see what was going on. To my amazement, there was just about everything I had removed from the house all together in a big jumble! No wonder it was rattling away, filled with pottery and such, including the old fire pit and cookpot. So I used "markfordelete" on everything I could target, then went back inside and tried to toggle clipping. Unfortunately, this seems to be bugged. It won't toggle on again, even leaving the cell for another, and the game suffers a run-time error if you close it out with clipping off.

Anyway, this seems to permanently delete the offending items, but what's odd is that they are not visible in the CK! It's like the game is storing this stuff for some reason.

My guess for you, Boxcab, is that you're loading a save from within Breezehome. Those objects exist within your save even if they don't exist in your esp. I'd make a clean save outside Breezehome. Or better yet, for testing, make a new character that has never been to Breezehome and test with the COC function.

My guess for you, Wolf, is that you somehow accidentally clicked on them. It is VERY easy to do. I find my mouse in the CK very sensitive. I think I clicked on 1 object and find half the objects in the cell highlighted. Trying to unclick them, MOVES them instead, registering minute changes for all of them, so I then have to clean them out or reload. There might be a bug you've encountered, but selection errors are so easy to make and not notice. Save often!
