Occlude sound?

Anyone have any idea how one can occlude sound of combat from travelling from an area? I have a location in the cell I'm working on where the player encounters a unique monster. The problem is, directly above that room is a guard area and they hear the combat and aggro. They're in seperate roombounds, and just to try I attempted putting an occlusion plane between the floors.

Is there some simple trick I'm missing?
