Why is it that I'm having trouble selling certain items to merchants I know should buy these things? I'm having problems selling my crafted jewelry to general merchants and my buddy is having problems selling stolen weapons and armor to armor merchants? Thanks in advance.

Upstanding shop keeps will not buy stolen goods. Only specific people will buy stolen merchandise. What specifically is the jewelry problem?

Anything stolen cannot be sold to merchants unless they are fences sponsored by the Thieves Guild or if you have the "Fence" Speech perk. I don't know anything about the crafted jewelry, except that maybe you're selling it to the wrong people? Try Madesi in Riften- if that doesn't work- then it's bugged.

Stolen items can only be sold to fences from the thieves guild or if you get the high end speech perk.

Not sure about the jewelry. I know I sell mine to Belethor in Whiterun when based there. Until I get my spouse at least.

Merchants will not buy quest items either.

Put your items in a container and see if any of them are red. You may have stolen jewelery mixed in with your crafted items.

Not sure about the crafted jewelry. I just sold a bunch of Gold Necklaces I enchanted for profit to just about all the merchants in the cities.....

Thanks for the replies. And I go to the General merchants store in Whiterun after creating some Silver Necklaces and Rings, and when I go to sell them they're not in my inventory.

Items won't appear in the barter screen if the merchant won't purchase it.

Not all general merchants will buy jewelry. Honest merchants will not buy stolen good. You find a fence in the thieves guild to sell those items. I do know the general store in Whiterun will buy almost anything.

General Stores and Wizards usually buy jewelery (And Eorlund's wife running the jewelery stall in Whtierun, but she doesn't have much money IIRC)

For your buddy, reverse pickpocket items onto enemies and kill them, and they're no longer stolen, apparently.
