How to undelete a base object?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:36 pm

I've made all kinds of doodoo whilst learning the CK. Apparently, I deleted a base object, and now a bunch of cells are flagged as edited. I followed a solution by Joel Burgess:

Go to File > Data and locate the plugin in which you saved when that deletion occurred. Click "Details". Somewhere in that list is the NorBridgeCage02a base object - there should be a D next to it in the deleted column. Select that line, hit delete and hit OK. This forces the Creation Kit to ignore that change when it reload the plugin. The next time you save, the plugin will be modified and the object should be restored.

But it didn't work. Details window now shows no deleted base objects but I still can't use the object and all the cells that referenced it are still flagged with the dreaded '*'.

Just clicking on the cell in the cell window will mark it as edited even though you did nothing to it. Just check if the item is restored and (if it's restored) you can ignore the edited symbol.

The object is still considered deleted :(.

You can't ignore the edited symbol. Whatever cells are listed as edited in your mod will be part of your mod. Even if you changed nothing in that cell, if your mod loads after someone else's that changes that cell, it goes back to vanilla - the stuff you didn't ACTUALLY edit. The only cells that should have the symbol are the ones you WANT changed. Mark unintended cells for IGNORE from your mod to avoid conflicts.

I'm in the same boat. I deleted the DweRmSmWallExBg01 from the masterfile. I done what was said to do here, which turned the count back up to 64 instead of zero, but it is still deleted. (Wont actually let me drag and drop onto my mod without saying it is deleted.

You need to save and reload your plugin in the editor after removing a modification via "details".

Thank you so much, Planteur! If there was a way to give you a thumbs up here, I would. You just saved the day.
