[REL] SteepledHat's Riverwood Home

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:09 pm

This is the King of Pointy Hat's own personal home. It's located on the shore opposite the lumber mill in Riverwood. It's made to blend into the Riverwood environment with as little alteration as possible. The pier near the mill was extended to the opposite shore. The bank near the home was altered to have a gentle slope toward the water rather than a cliff. This area is made to blend with the wooded surroundings and waterfall nearby. A smelter was also added near the blacksmith in Riverwood. Some bushes were shifted to make this possible.
All containers are safe inside the home. They were duplicated and marked not to respawn.

The house is buyable for 2500 gold from Gerdur in Riverwood.

What this plugin changes for TLDR people:
------------------------------------------------
A house is added to Riverwood.
A smelter is added to Riverwood near the blacksmith.
The house is buyable from Gerdur.
------------------------------------------------

Thanks to everyone on the Beth forums who helped me with the scripting.

Thanks. I hope you like it. :)

Also, fixed a minor issue with bed ownership. If you downloaded 1.0 please update to 1.1. :)

EDIT: Lol, I did write forge. Thanks. ;)

This cell won't reset, right? If I store my gear in it for.. 25 days or so, I won't come back to find it default, right?

Hmm, that depends on which version I started working from.... I had a lot of issues with the scripts and ended up rolling back to a backup a few times. Let me check and make sure this one is safe.

The containers are safe for sure. (That's what I was checking.)

I don't know if your stuff is safe if it's scattered about the house. How do you know if a cell is flagged not to respawn in Skyrim? I never considered this and only thought of the containers.

Another quick fix. It changed the Encounter Zone of the house cell to the NoResetZone. This should keep stuff scattered about the house safe.

Thanks for the question Paladin. :D

Hi steepledhat,
your house is really nice. But my companion (Ilia) is not able to come in. She stopped before the bridge. After a few tries she take some steps, but than leave the bridge again. After a long procedure she was on the other side, but stuck next to the bridge. I gave up to put her in the house. Maybe you should check your Path grids.

The House itself have all i need. Just the right version for me.

I noticed in the screen shots you can see through the cracks in the floor. I think most Riverwood houses have a different type of floor.

If you want to keep that style of floor and get rid of the see through effect you could use RifRmSmBaseCeiling01 and flip it upside down and place it under your floor. I only mention that one tile because I've only worked with the Riften tile set. There might be many more that would work the same or better.

I'm not trying to nitpick or anything it's just that I spent most of yesterday checking my own mod so I'm used to looking for things like that.

Other than that it looks nice.

Well the cell is an exact copy of Faendal's house in Riverwood that I modified. So I didn't give the floor too much thought. The house isn't supposed to be fancy and it's price reflects that. Personally, I like it as is, but thank you for the suggestion. I also considered putting a basemant in. Still thinking about that. It'd probably be an Morrowind style basemant with a ladder.

Also, someone on the nexus mentioned the fact that Gerdur is not essential. I don't like essential characters.
However, her death makes the house unbuyable. On the next update I'll either make her essential or explore an logical way of dealing with the case of her death. Perhaps have the PC steal a deed from inside of her house and go to Whiterun to claim ownership. Or maybe just have it sold by another NPC.

I'm very busy at the moment, but I hope to have an update out in a week or so that fixes the navmesh, fixes the case of Gerdur's death, and adds a map marker for the house.
