Releasing a prisoner, are these prisoners dumb or what

I met many prisoners behind bars. One example is the thalmor fort near solitude where u have to rescue this graymane guy with his brother. Anyway as we were escaping the tower, i came upon 3 nords behind bars. I picked open the lock, guess what. They are free!
Then they sit down and go to sleep...in the jail.....

Dude! I just freed you. Get out, you are free, yet you didnt move a f.....Didnt gamesas think of this......??????????

Yep. Any time I've "freed" the prisoners they just stand there. And in fact, if you talk to them, they sometimes act almost offended. I do have to say that Beth is at LEAST consistent in this though - I'm also playing Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion - and the prisoners/slaves in those games do the same stupid stand there as if I didn't just open the door/remove the slave bracers.

No prisoner AI, obviously.

Which is a surprise because when you see imperials taking stormcloak prisoners and you free them they run so its strange

Last time I picked a jail door, the guy said:
"Get out of here!"

The guy is offended because I freed him and tried to tell him about it

F-em, I said, and I lop his head off.
