Saddest Moments

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:56 am

I was reading a topic earlier, which pretty much said there were no characters he could connect with, or actually feel anything for. I remember in Oblivion, when
Spoiler
Lucien died
I was not a happy chap.

Anyone experienced any moments like this in Skyrim?

I was insanely pissed off when everyone in the Dark Brotherhood died and when Mercer Frey commited treason.

Oh and when I walked out of a bar and shouted "I swear to drunk, I ain't God" so a Guard opproched me and asked me to quiet down. I said "Ociffer, I ain't as think, as you drunk I am" so he told me to dis-mount my horse so he could take me to jail for RUI (Riding a horse Under the Incfluence of alchohol) and I said "Nuh-uh! I'm too drunk, you get on." So he got on, and I got locked up. Sad night.

Nothing like that in any Elder Scrolls games but in Fallout NV I found I cared for my companions more then other games. Veronica and Arcade being the ones I liked the most and some parts of there story made me sad.

Everytime I kill a dragon, it makes me sad.... so I kill loads of people to brighten up my Skyrim day.

I'm a Skyrim enthusiast but frankly, Skyrim didn't attach me to absolutely anyone. In Oblivion, Lucien Lachance was pretty much the closest thing you have as a fatherly figure upon that game. You're actually attached, because he's the first person you meet, and then he watches over you. You work for him personally, and then
Spoiler
when you make a mistake, he is the only person who believes you when you say it wasn't you. He even goes as far as to die at the expense of your works.
So he is actually close to you, and someone you actually have some sort of bond with. Even the Gray Fox. He has such an indepth story that you grow to respect the reasoning behind his actions. You could see that
Spoiler
he was going to give you the Gray Fox's Mask
But you didn't see how he was doing it coming. Or the strategy behind his missions.

But in Skyrim...
Spoiler
No one in the Dark Brotherhood are remotely important. When the leader lays dying you're a little hurt but you're not really attached enough past her ass in a tight suit, so you move on. Kodlak dying... You read his journal and you're like. "Aw." but in reality you realize you know nothing of Kodlak. You speak like... 3 times, and those are small conversations. Perhaps he is respectable, but you have no bond, and I felt not sorrow when he died... When the leader of the thieves guild turns out to be evil, even killing Ulfric. Nothing touched me. There was no form of bonding, I think Faendril was my closest friend on the whole game. And that's probably just because I got free bow lessons off of him.

So that's my opinion in Skyrim. I cannot say I was impressed... But there were so many good things that compensate for this crucial flaw.

Was walking out in the wild on one of the roads and there was a wagon with a dead khajit laying on the ground with arrows stuck in him. Made me kind of sad to think that this was just a poor merchant trying to get by who problably had a family back home, and some [censored] just shoots him and robs him.

I once found a House with a dead man. Next to him was a letter that he can't take his friend with him. His friend was a dog. :(

I think half the reason I enjoyed the Dark Brotherhood so much in Oblivion (I'd go as far as to say it was likely my favourite questline) was simply because I was very emotionally attached. I found that I was so emotionally attached to certain characters that
Spoiler
I almost couldn't do the purification of the sanctuary. I had to really psyche myself up to do it, because I had grown quite attached to the characters, seeing as I usually got their advice for every mission, so I talked to them a lot.

And I also became very attached to Lucien, making him one of my favourite NPCs in Oblivion (along with Baurus!) So
Spoiler
when I walked into Applewatch to see his dead mutilated body hung from the ceiling, I very nearly just walked back out again out of sheer shock factor. I also felt suddenly strangely lost without having him to guide me through the questline anymore, which was very unsettling.

I haven't found anyone who I am quite that emotionally attached to yet in Skyrim, but I have become rather fond of Lydia, Ralof, and my horse haha.

I found a pillaged wagon with the dead bodies of a merchant and his wife nearby. The wife had her diary with her. She'd been worried about the fact that the roads were full of bandits, but her husband's business was their only livelihood, so he had to travel. So she'd decided to join him on his final trip, as she suspected that it would be his last. True love.
