Two handed don't do DPS.
We do DAM!
Daedric is the best.

I think he means sword, axe or hammer. I haven't used 2h yet, but with 1h the mace is the best (in terms of DPS) until you get to a damage of ~15, then swords are superior right up to the top. Daggers are even more damaging DPS wise, but thats not an option for 2h.

I'm not sure about 2h, but I assume that the hammer is the best right at the beginning, then at the end the sword will have the highest DPS.

But tbh, just play the game how you want to. If you see a 2h weapon that looks better but is weaker than another, use it. You don't need to be the best on this game.

Greatswords will do most DPS assuming they're doing at least 23 damage.

Greatswords do higher theoretical dps iirc, but if it takes two swings of a greatsword vs one with a warhammer, the warhammer is clearly better.
So it depends on the HP of the mob you are facing, vs the damage per swing.

And it doesn't matter really, once you start going all "spreadsheety" you can quickly spoil the game.

2 handed weapons are about burst damage not DPS; this is true of sword and board too.

This is not WoW, you cannot just stand there mashing attack skills and have the game calculate hits/misses/crits. if you stand there mashing attacks the enemy WILL get wise and stagger you, and that'll leave you exposed. In many ways personal playstyle becomes a mroe valid concern; do you stagger enemies and then lay down a punishing hail of blows, or do you prefer to play defensively and make each hit count?

If pure DPS is your real concern, than dual wielding is the way to go, not 2h - not just because it does more damage but the dual power attacks lay down a whirlwind of unblockable hits instead of just one very slow very strong hit, this keeps the enemy from being able to block and often staggers them so they can't react at all allowing you to achieve the holy grail of non-stop attacks, which is how DPS works

Which adept perk do you like better? That's about all there is to it.

All the perks like that are a complete waste, for 1h and 2h.

Swords, the critical damage is only half the base damage, the base damage of a daedric sword is like 17, so all it will do is add 8 damage to your attack. Not worth it.
Axes, the bleeding damage isn't to bad at low levels, but at high levels it's useless. Swords overtake axes in terms of dps anyway at that point.
Maces, most enemies have barely any armor, dragons have 0 armor rating. As you level up, enemies get more health. So those perks are useless.

You're better of spending those perks somewhere else.

Spoiler
rahd's hammer
it has a lower weight for a hammer. Swung faster than my ebony greatsword, and did 650+ damage with 48% 2h boost and perks. I prefer my daedric hammer as it does 703, but weighs more.

Marc, where is that hammer you mention?
Spoiler
The hammer can be found at the end of the dungeon known as Liar's Retreat. It is under the table that the body of Rahd lies on. It's quite easy to miss, so keep your eyes open. Btw, its name is The Longhammer.
