around whiterun. just wander around. plenty of deer and wolves to be had.

Ehm... everywhere? Or between Whiterun and riverwood if I remember correctly. But they're generally all over the FF-ing place.

No set location, they're everywhere.

Pretty much anywhere, but I tend to spot them more in the southwestern part of Skyrim . . . say the area between Whiterun, Falkreath, and Morthal. It might be just because it seems less mountainous, so I tend to travel around overland (away from roads) more.

Deer, bear, sabre cats, etc.

Just hAve to go offload. They are typically in the wilds area.

I see deer and other game everywhere, all the time. But I like hunting in forests - feels more fun.

Try on the road from Riverwood to Whiterun, and the plains West of Whiterun. Also I remember a few elk and deer being close to the bridge controlled by bandits, which you get to by the road east of Whiterun.
