Importing external textures into the game...

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 6:23 pm

Hi all,

Maybe this question is asked one too many time, but I'm still having trouble finding the right answer. My question is this:

I'd like to import certain textures into the game to add new banners (flags). In the CK, banners are mostly animated. Which type of file should I change/duplicate and adapt, and which tools should I use (apart from a graphic editor such as Photoshop or Gimp)???

In short, I want to import a graphical symbol of my own design to be put on a banner/flag and use it in a player's home I am currently designing. Therefore I wanted to create my own banner to personalize the setting a little.

I apologize in forward if this question is alsready answered numerous times, but as I wrote up here, I just can't seem to find the correct answer to my question.

Again, thanks in advance,

Greetz,

Hou do not need any tools except for PS/gimp.
Make the texture (use an official texture as template) and place it somewhere in the textures folder.
In CK, dublicate the existing texture set for any banner. Replace the diffuse texture with your own.
Then, dublicate any banner static (there are 4 different stages for each banner, with different animations). In your dublicated static, click "select" at the mesh. There, you should be able to swap the old texture with your new texture set.

After you put the texture in the data/textures folder, in the object window look in Misc/texture sets. Create a new texture set (the new texture set window is pretty easy to figure out) and you can apply multiple textures to any item.

If you find you have a need to adjust the texture on the model, NifSkope is very friendly. A couple of clicks gets you on the UV map and a couple more let's you scale, rotate, adjust vertices, scroll...whatever.

Hi all,

Thanks (again) for all of you who've answered my question. Yesterday, I finally found the time to practice your directions, and it works perfectly!!!

I still have one question about importing self-made textures into Skyrim/CK, but I'll just put this up on the forum as a new question.

Guys, thanks a lot, I am very content with the endresult!!!
