Question about room markers and the grid.

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 1:13 pm

The tutorial suggests that we use the grid to snap room markers together. It also suggests selecting a room's wall and then creating a room marker. But doesn't this create a box that is outside the grid, seeing as it adjusts itself to the kit? I'm having a lot of trouble getting the markers to snap together and I think this is why.

edit: also, cells' lighting templates are overriding my room-specific settings.

Ok found out that the per-room lighting templates only reflect ingame. But the first issue is still bugging me big time.

What tends to happen is if you follow what the tutorial says and select a bunch of statics and click the create room button, you get a slightly oddly shaped roombound. Hit 2 to turn off the scaling and move it around a bit in all axes and it should snap to the global grid.

Of course then sometimes your snap value will be lower than the snap value for scaling, but hey...

What it actually says is

Ctrl+click to select wall pieces from each side of the room. Is that what you're doing?

I will try that, thank you.

Yes, I explained myself wrong in the OP.

Solved it by ignoring the tutorial and just making the primitive in the void and scaling it to fit the room. Now everything snaps together perfectly.
