Minor City Homes - Dawnstar

Download at Skyrim Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9841

Starting out small, I will be adding player housing to the 4 minor cities: Dawnstar, Falkreath, Morthal and Winterhold.
These will be released as a series of seperate mods at first, probably merging them in a last one while adding some more depth and detail.
Future updates will include interactive bookshelves/mannequins/weapon plaques, a way to buy the houses, a quest,...
I'm hoping to give each house it's own character. A simple house, a ruined tower, longhouse, ... Suggestions are more than welcome (that also goes for the house-names, I seem to svck at it )

Progress:
Dawnstar: 100% done
Falkreath: 0%
Morthal: 0%
Winterhold: 0%

Part one: Dawnview

Dawnview is a free player house on the Northern edge of Dawnstar bay.
The main floor has a kitchen, dining area and double bed.
A trapdoor in the far corner of the house leads to a basemant with a mushroom garden, enchanting and alchemy area.
There is plenty of safe, non-respawning storage throughout the house.
Outside is a sitting area around a fire, a tanning rack and workbench.
There's also a small fishing dock and rowboat in front of the house.

Well from the screenshots it's looking pretty good, I'll definitely be following this one to see how it goes. All I can say is to be careful not to overdo the houses, don't chuck a heap of stuff in there and make it only cost 10 gold, make sure you try to keep it very balanced with the other houses and whatnot. But keep up the good work.

Thanks!
This is my first mod for skyrim, I will make it buyable or obtainable by quest once I get to know the CK better.
I was hesitating to put an enchanting table in there, but if I don't I get heaps of requests to put one in for sure!

Thanks for the suggestions Knock-Knock!
I was actually going to build a ruined mage-tower somewhere off the cliffs of Winterhold
Going for something more Graveyard-y for Falkreath: something like a sanctuary. Not quite sure yet...
That leaves Morthal, hmmm...

That looks very cool! I like that you're trying to create unique houses based on the region.

Thanks, that's what I'm aiming for!

If you guys should download, please report any bugs you find, I had a hell of a time navmeshing the place, I even had to fix some vanilla mesh problems in the area :-S

I already found a nice spot for the Winterhold house, on the edge of a cliff, overlooking the college and the beautiful bay.
I'm using a Nord Ruin as a base, but might include a tower, depends if I find the right pieces. This one will have a dungeon crawl to gain access :-)

Very nitce to see someone do this, and judging from your first release here, I like your style.

I am not sure if you have ever played Morrowind, but for Morthal I recommend taking some inspiration from the houses up in Dagon Fel (they were shacks that stood up on pillars over the water). Might be something to at least give it a unique flavor...just a suggestion :).

I might tackle Morthal or Falkreath first, I'm getting snowblind here

How do you acquire the house in-game? Is there a key so NPCs won't enter? Can followers come in? Wives?

@Danbuter: Since this was my first mod for Skyrim, it's free. I will make a quest for it in the future or make it buyable. Followers shouldn't be a problem. WIves: you can't ask her to move in with you no. Once I figure that out, they will.

Your "Mage tower" idea for Winterhold sounds really cool ^_^

Thanks, it looks cool too! I think I'm gonna use a Nord Dwelling as a base, with access to a Nord ruined tower, since that has no interior...
I'll post a [WIP]soon...

I love this idea. I was very disappointed that only major cities got houses in this game.

Your Falkreath house name has to be a pun on death. Like the alchemy shopkeep in the town says, its something of a running gag that everything in Falkreath is named after or related to death.

But I svck at names too, so I'm afraid I can't help much on an actual name.

I'm not very good at this either, but it sounds like a fun idea so I'll give it a couple of swings:

Nooseburrow

Sepulchre

Hollowhead

Greyview (Pun on Grave View)

Skullachre

Thanks for the comments!

Yep, it should have something to do with death indeed, I'll guess I'll think of something when I work on it, thanks for the suggestions! :)

No problem! I'm looking forward to seeing this mod progress. It's near the top of my "Skyrim needs this mod" list. :)

What version were you using? I'v only just updated and tested the navmesh. Aela had no trouble at all following me throughout the house and basemant...

I finally got back there.. I went to the basemant and was shocked to see the town smithy and his wife in there.. Telling me that he would make my armor later, and go away now.. I was alone. I don't know if the pathing was better or not.. Fast traveled there with a new character.

I think I'll give this a miss..

Good luck.
