Nothing snaps anymore

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:43 am

As the title says, I loaded up my creation kit and nothing snaps anymore, when I duplicate the exact hallway piece it gets stuck half in the old one or there is a gap in between, could anyone help me it's getting frustrating.

I've seen this to. It seems that once you restart the CK, the Grid gets reset to an arbitrary orientation.

I stopped dealing with it, and started working off grid for everything. Takes longer in the beginning, but it starts going quicker after a bit of work.

Also, wouldn't it be nice, if we could snap larger objects back to grid? Select 14 floor pieces not on grid, click them, snap them back to grid. Would make life so much easier.

I've already done that and it didn't work :( I'm new to modding aswell, this is really frustrating me, so I quit for today :/

Sounds to me like the peices that were in the plugin you loaded were off the grid. Did you change any of the grid numbers in the 3d Info page to get alignment?

Are you absolutely positive that the peices that were in the plugin are on the grid and not overlapping anywhere? It's very easy to overlook. I have to correct for this everytime I work.

Perhaps you changed the snap reference using shift-K. Select a piece well placed, and press shift-K again to resnap the reference from this piece.

Try this : go to preferences, click on "select snap reference" and select a piece as reference. You can select a piece, edit it and set everything to 0 as a reference.

If that doesn't work try deleting SkyrimEditor.ini, and restart, if it gives some kind of error, then check the file cache of the CK, had similar problems and solved this way.

Does the light markers are colored red? Because I had that same issue just yesterday and solved by deleting the skyrimeditor.ini and the skyrimeditorprefs.ini, then did the same thing for the cache file.
