Who is Your Favorite Follower and Why?

Lydia hasn't died yet, because I gave her a bow and took away her close-range weapons...I prefer to tank anyways, and having your companion jump in front of you and take your kill, really irritates me!

stenvar. "you can give me all the gold you want".

I like Stenvar too. That line always cracks me up.

I also like Erandur. I like his "May Mara protect us" and his commentary on any towns we visit: "Whiterun is just amazing!! I've always wanted to visit it!"

Barbas, Kharjo or Erandur. Barbas for his invincibility, Kharjo for his silly attitude and Erandur for his kick ass mage moves.
Although they've all killed me once or twice. Barbas pushed me over Bard's Leap Summit, Kharjo has ran into many spiked door traps..
..Erandur was the worst, he for some reason ran to the bottom of a draugr burrow and somehow dragged a bunch of deathlords back up with him.

Aranea Lenith was my favourite. But shes gone now so its Lydia. Lydia is near unkillable right now. I never see her yield to anybody now thanks to her enchanted ebony mail, necklace and ring.

My current follower, Marcurio, is my favorite. He's a very powerful mage (now he's a tank mage) which compliments my character who's a full warrior. Apart from that, he's the most "realistic" follower since he gives out advice at certain location (e.g. Watch out for traps / Look behind you for enemies, etc) and also reacts to the environment (e.g. The cold is unbearable..). Only tiny thing bothering me is whenever I have to trade something with him, he always complain with that same line: " I am an apprentice mage, not a pack mule.." (something like that) But so far, he's my absolute favorite.

Before I had Aranea Lenith, who's also quite powerful but she's in the creepy side.. (her voice crept me out every time) -- but she died so I had to get a new follower. And before this, I had Lydia (first follower), who's useful in lower levels, then she keeps dying and getting in my way so I "fired" her.

I really was determined to take Lydia to my endgame but at Level 43, the battles were fierce and she'd go to the ground fast because her health is only at 158. I felt awful. Then I got the house in Markarth and Argis the Bulwark is the Housecarl and his health was at 366 so that made the decision easy to take Lydia back to Breezehome and give her a well-deserved vacation. She's still my Housecarl and she's sitting in my bedroom eating bread with her eye on that sweetroll on the table.

With Argis and the Dremora Lord fighting now, the enemy isn't getting those 1-hit kills on me.

Plus, when I use Healing Hands on Argis, I never get tired of hearing him say, "What?...hey, that feels goood!"

Argis is skilled at One-Handed, Block, Archery and Heavy Armor and he's also a beast with a staff in each hand using fireballs and chain lightning.

Two Dead Thrall female Bandit Chiefs. Ones that walk like actual women and don't waddle around with those damn Gorilla arms. Both equipped with Enchanted Legendary Steel Plate Armor. Fire Enchanted Legendary Daedric Longswords and Paralyze Enchanted Legendary Hunting Bows.

Oh sorry...and Eola. She is the best one IMO. Spells, Sneak, Bows and Swords...she has it all.

Damn, I almost capitalized every word.

I settled on Marcurio after Lydia got killed early on in my first playthru. He is the perfect foil for my gruff Nord Warrior both in playstyle and personality. By the time I'd finished he had every staff in the game and was really powerful.

The thing about followers is that early in the game they are very week. You are best going thru a few meat shields until you get past lvl 25 when you should be choosing a follower to take you to the end of the game. In my second playthru as a Mage I went thru Argis, J'zargo, Onmund and dopey Vorstag, who didn't have the happiest of ends...

I have since settled on Cosnach the Drunk, who has even funnier lines than Marcurio. He is kitted out in dual enchanted ebony, has a unique enchanted sword and is very much a beast

he can basically go face to face to face with a dragon while I hit it with spells. Those two folllowers have made the game 20% better for me.
