Can't update steam mod?

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 2:04 pm

Every time I try to update my mod to the workshop, I get this error "Failed to upload the mod file on Steam! Steam error 11" Any idea why I'm getting that or how I can work around it?

I think this is a problem more with Steam Workshop than with you! I've encountered this. One thing to try is to delete those weird files the CK creates other than the esp and bsa (cbk and bsl are the two extensions or something like that). You might also recompile your bsa anew if you have a bsa. Another thing to try is to just wait ten minutes and try again: that's what ended up working for me!

I've had this problem for a couple of days now. I'm really hoping Steam support will have something helpful to say on Monday.

Had this happen a few days ago, twice. After rebooting, I was able to upload for some reason.

I couldn't update at all yesterday. Then this morning it mysteriously worked. But after fixing another bug, I'm back to error 11 again.

Very annoying. It would be nice if someone at Valve or Bethesda could at least explain what error 11 refers to.

And what should we do? Just wait?

It appears so.
It generally starts working after a while. Perhaps the next day ..

Steam support.
Spoiler

Please exit Steam and go to the folder called C:\Program Files\Steam\ (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the contents of this folder except:

The Steamapps folder and Steam.exe (If 'exe' is not visible, look for the black and white Steam icon)

Restart your computer.

Then, you will need to launch Steam.exe from within the Steam installation folder, and not from a pre-existing shortcut.

With Steam running, re-test the original issue.

Note: This process will not affect your currently installed games.
It helped me.
