Again With The Wind! - Geeze Bethesda!

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 10:20 am

Just like in Oblivion, there is a CONSTANT wind sound... all the time... wind, wind, wind. I don't mind it now and then but I'd sure like to go for a peaceful, quiet walk sometimes! Do the folks at Bethesda work in a freakin' wind tunnel or something. It's driving me nuts!

Some compassionate soul made a mod for Oblivion that got rid of that annoying, constant, aggravating wind sound and I am SO hoping someone has done it or is doing it for Skyrim.

I did a search but found nothing so far. Anyone know of a mod to at least reduce the never-ending wind?

-lol- Sometimes I think I'm hearing cars driving by.. I wonder what wind files they used or where they got them.. While sitting on the edge of a freeway or something? They sounded like cars to me in Morrowind too.

I really like all the different wind sounds, especially the sort of eerie howling wind you get gusting through some caves. I could see how they might grate, but I personally find the fx to be the best yet, and allow for a much more immersive experience when playing without the music than previous tes games. The footstep fxs are particularly good - loads of variiety and each sample is super crisp and high quality.

The only time I've every really noticed wind outside is on the tundra around Whiterun, and during snow storms. In the tombs and such, to me I think it adds a ton of atmosphere. Between that, the thumps, bumps, and crumpling debris sounds, I love the atmosphere in the tombs.

Do the leaves on trees make a rustle sound? I can't even remember if they did.

Don't think the trees do, but there's awesome crickets and chickadees and stuff singing at night and in the day.
I'd love to hear some wind whistle through a pine forest though, that's awesome

But in real life...there's wind...? We don't get it a lot because we live in cities for the most part...but irl big open areas will have a wind running through it.

But I dont mind your concept of the request, but I dont think it was a bad choice of Beth's.

We get wind where I live during Hurricane season, and some from the Ocean, but it's not this constant gale/howl like in Skyrim.
