Oh my... (Standard Definition shafted)

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:07 am

So after my HDTV broke, I started playing on a semi-older(got it in 2009) SDTV I had in my closet. The TVs are the same size.

Wow.

First off, the text is so small I can't tell what's going on. Second, a lot of things get cut off (Like If I pick up a coin purse, and it says something like "15 gold added", I'll only be able to see the "ld added" on the screen. I tried adjusting the TV settings but nothing.

An option for adjusting screen settings would be nice, but I probably shouldn't get my hopes up...

Wont be added, as SDTV's are no longer considering "supportable" due to the advancement of HDTV.

Even if it isnt just for SDTVs, an option to change the UI/text to be larger or smaller would still be a useful addition, IMO.

I might just avoid playing this game until I can get a new TV. It's the only game that has this problem.

Hey, I use a TV smaller than my computer monitor and yeah its svcks but at least I can see a little. I tried putting my ps3 on my bigger TV in the living room and more of the stuff that you said happened so I switched back to my like 2IN TV and maybe one day I'll be able to get an HDTV.

Sadly nobody supports SD any more. This generation of consoles was never designed TO support them. It's rare you find a developer willing to try and accomodate the needs of users with older tech.

I'm on 5:4(yes, they do still exist) PC and cutouts are extremely rare and minor. Must be a console thing.

Hmm. My PS3 has an output option for 480, and many of the games list 480p on the back as one of the theoretical resolutions. Of course, the text is frequently very very small. (Managed to play Final Fantasy 13 on an SD TV. Readable, but painful )

clearly you don't play many games on standard definition TV, all games look like trash on SDTVs, \except for playstation games...playstATION 1

This game does not like SD. I had to give my gf my spare hdtv just so she could play this game and trying to shrink the screen so all the content fits only makes it harder to play.
