NavMesh Bug still exists

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:09 pm

I've heard from a few places that the NavMesh bug has been fixed in the new patch (V1.4.27.0.4). Unfortunately they are wrong http://youtu.be/S1mmm9gyJEQ

Was there a fix? Is there a fix in the works?

I'm pretty sure it was never confirmed as fixed in this patch.

I remember reading it somewhere... but what matters is that the NavMesh bug is still alive... and must be squashed!

They confirmed that they're working on it, but I haven't seen any confirmation that it would be in this patch. I agree it should be a priority, but solving it might be more complicated, and if there are other things they can fix more quickly, there's no point in holding back the patch.

It hasn't been fixed by 1.4.27. Whoever is reporting that is simply wrong. Citing who said this would help, because they need to be beaten over the head for it.

AFAIK, the ONLY thing they have fixed so far that is CK related is some BSA script issue, and it was likely released more in mind for the mod users utilizing Steamworks rather than the actual modders, as it was part of a game patch and NOT a CK patch. I expect that the real editor-related issues are either going to be fixed by CK patches, or with new versions of the CK like with previous titles. But I suppose it could be possible that CK fixes might get packaged along with game patches, but I'm not really expecting that though, and besides, the CK just came out.

I think it's going to be a few weeks, if not months before the major fixes such as ones for the NavMeshes and custom NPC faces (which drives me nuts BTW, I'm actually considering the possibility of using custom races just to have NPCs with things like warpaint, which would likely require me to find someone who could do it) come since they need to do the research into figuring out what's wrong, figure out how to fix the issues if they can be fixed, and then finally, they need to make certain that the fixes are not going to break other features of the CK, like what happened with Oblivion's CS and a couple of Skyrim's patches. Not to say that I don't want the fixes to come sooner, but I'm just assuming that it's going to be a while.

I had seen it on youtube comments to a video... Don't remember which one, my browser doesn't keep history.

Well I posted about a fix being in the works in the comments section for Bethesda's navmesh tutorial. That may have been what you saw. As far as I know the fix is still being worked on, and I am sure that when it is ready to go, BGS will be only too happy to give us the heads-up.

Sure hope so. I'd hate for this to end up as a stealth fix like the BSA load order issue. Glad it was fixed, but not telling anyone about it leaves everything up in the air.
