I need a direction to look

I have an idea for alchemy mod which I don't want to disclose too much information about but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to do any of the things I want to do. I looked over the creation kit tutorials but they are almost all about creating an area or characters but I'm not looking for any of that.

How can I add additional qualities to ingredients?

How can I use more than three ingredients to make a potion?

How can i change the prices on potions made by the user?

What does "ingredient value" affect? (It's not the price)

I don't expect someone to spell out everything for me but perhaps there Is there some tutorial out there which can shed light on some of these questions? Will I need to use papyrus? Do I need to use a different editor?

Adding Additional Quantities - What do you mean?

More than 3 Ingredients: I don't know (I don't think you can ... certainly not easily, as far as I know ...)

Prices: I assume you mean the base price a vendor will pay the PC for them (and the PC pays to a merchant for it)? In the Object Window > Magic > Potion > Untick Auto-Calculate, enter a Value

Ingredient Value: Is the base price a merchant will pay the PC for that ingredient (or the PC pays to a merchant for it)

Qualities not Quantities, the properties I believe is what he means, what the ingredients do

Normally it's only my typing that's rubbish ... today it's my reading too! :(

Ingredients Qualities: Object Window > Items > Ingredient

There are two different values for an ingredient. There is one that you described "Ingredient Value: Is the base price a merchant will pay the PC for that ingredient (or the PC pays to a merchant for it)" and there is a different one on the same screen. I noticed that is the "cost" of each effect type added together... this is getting confusing without being able to show you what i mean. There is a little checkbox that says "auto-calculate." The value I'm referring to is the one that you can change if you uncheck that box. if under the object window i go to items>ingredients and double click any ingredient the window pops up that I'm referring to. Under the 4 effects is an "auto-calculate" and "ingredient value". What does ingredient value affect?

I intentionally was sounding vague when i said "quality" because I don't want to give away the idea i have for my Alchemy mod haha. What i mean is to add another value to it like weight or price. I want to give a rating to each ingredient, not add a fifth spell effect.

Cost is the "number" in the Ingredients table of Results (which is a stupid name for it) that each ingredient is capable of giving. I THINK that is the cost in magika when you get that result from using that ingredient in a potion craft (I said think, so don't go quoting me)

The Value (that you can alter if you uncheck auto-calculate), is the value (price) you pay a merchant for that ingredient

And (I THINK) that ingredients are already weighted ... If this is what you mean:

Potions work in reverse.

Ingredients have Possible Results. Those Possible Results have a magnitude.

When you create a potion - I THINK - it uses the sum of the magnitudes of the ingredients that you put into the craft and the highest value (across the 3 ingredients) is what potion gets made.

AND, a bottle of potion has weight (as in, how heavy it is for the player to carry). And a Potion has a price (what the merchant will pay the PC for it, or the PC will have to pay a merchant to get it)

(If any of that made sense, I'll be amazed!)

"When you create a potion - I THINK - it uses the sum of the magnitudes of the ingredients that you put into the craft and the highest value (across the 3 ingredients) is what potion gets made." I believe you are correct, from what I have seen. It disregards the magnitude of the ingredients with lower magnitudes completely, which i think is dumb. I want to alter that.

I'm not sure what you meant by "I THINK that is the cost in magika when you get that result from using that ingredient in a potion craft (I said think, so don't go quoting me)" It costs magicka to make potions?

I have no idea where the scripts (if they are scripts) for potion creation are. I expected them to be recipes, but - for whatever reason - they are created differently than other crafted items.

I'd have to check - in game - on the Cost thing.

I think I remember it effecting something, when you craft a potion; but like I say, don't quote me it was magika.

I did just have another thought: When you eat an ingredient it damages your health (or staimna, I can't remember which). Is Cost the amount that an eating an ingredient damages you?

Whatever, I don't think cost has anything to do with "value" (or gold etc)
