the above script seems to bring followers along with you, I don't understand how, but tested they are coming with me and they are

Followers pretty much autofollow you when you teleport as long as there is a loading screen.

Tried the linkedref concept, but got the same bug as if I'd teleported straight there, for some reason, it has to load tamriel, then teleport into whiterun, I have no idea why.

Oh well, it was a bit of a shot in the dark. At least you have a workaround for now.

Have you tried with conventional load doors? It might just be a matter of disguising the door...

Yeah it was a good idea and you taught me something new about linkedrefs :) Tried load doors but same bug. Sunnie at BethForums figured out what the bug actually is, I've pasted the quote below:

Alright, I have narrowed down the teleporting to city worldspace problem....

It has to do with the huge number of weapon plaques and bookshelves in the cell. Once I cut the massive number of bookshelves and the plaques, the teleporting works just fine from the cell to city worldspaces. It bugged the hell out of me that it works just fine with my massive mem use cells, but not this one. It dawned on me that I don't have a bajillion bookcases and weapon plaques ( I have quite a few plaques, but they are spread out all over my cells). Sure enough, taking all those out did the trick.

I believe the actual problem is that there are just too many objects the game is trying to unload from frostfang and it screws up loading of the destination city cell because they have an absolutely massive number of objects and AI running through them.
