Books flying off bookshelves

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 5:28 pm

I've followed the tutorial on the wiki to make a book shelf, and almost certainly gotten the steps correct. But, when I add books to the shelf, as soon as I leave the inventory menu the books fly off the shelf or get pushed into the sides of my bookshelf. So why could this be happening? I'm pretty sure I've sized all the triggers and collision boxes correctly, though the wiki was a little vague on where and how large thing need to be aroung the books. Any ideas?

I made a very simple esp that adds a cell with all of the premade bookshelves currently in the game. You can use it in the CK and just copy and paste what you need. One of those might fit your needs. Saves time too.

Tried this, but doesn't work, even just copy and pasted the whole shelf, and it doesn't work...

Yay for Warehouses!

Sounds like you need an Orangutan librarian to keep those unruly books under control!

Look out for those flying books! They're real killers! :ahhh: :dead:

Now seriously, it definitely sounds like a physics issues to me. Would it be a possibility to take a screen capture of the bookcases in question in the editor? It could be an issue with the collision boxes.

You could also try and compare what you did with what they did somewhere else like Vlindrel Hall in Markarth for example. That player home has a usable bookcase.

I've figured it out... its all just from a lack of space. Basically when you make you're own bookshelf, if there isn't enough room for the books, the game trys to make them fit, which ends up derping them out usually. Ultimately, you can either resize the shelf you're using, or try to copy/paste from the in-game houses, as these seem to fit into much tighter spaces for some reason

Here's a pic regardless:
