Big items dissapearing in the creation kit.

Ok this is really starting to frustrate me.. I'm trying to make a large, non-landscape thing in my worldspace which takes up several cells, and the large pieces of rock/mountain etc I'm using to create the basis of it just dissapear when I move about in the editor. I'm guessing it's to do with being out of range or something since some of them take up most of a cell so I'm at pretty far range just to manipulate them. The problem with this is that they dissapear and then there doesn't seem to be any way to find this instance of the item again without being in exactly the same cell and even then it's impossible to work with all this stuff if it keeps dissappearing!

So 2 things - 1) Any way to find all references of an item and go to them? Like a list somewhere of all instances of a particular static with a list of their locations and options like deleting them from the world? I'd have thought they'd have simply put this as a right-click option somewhere in the statics window but no, that would have been logical. I'm SURE I found this window before but I think it's buried somewhere and I can't seem to find it again.

and 2) - is there some way to see large objects in the editor several cells away without re-generating object LOD and reloading the editor every time you move a large object?

Tried that, saw it posted in another thread, but it didn't reappear. Only problem is in a lot of other threads people are referring to not being able to see things in-game as opposed to in the CK, which is where my problem lies. Also the scale of the statics I need to edit is HUGE. We're talking several cells away just to move them about and still see what you're doing. All I want is the stupid things to show up. F5 works but only when you're in the same cell, unfortunately not really useful when the item takes up a whole cell, or a bunch of items like large rocks and cliff faces you want to arrange are covering several cells and you can't see their visual effect at short range.

I also ticked the "is full LOD" box but it still dissapears.. tbh I really don't wanna be generating LOD and reloading my mod every single time I add one of many large items, plus I'm not even sure the LOD objects will follow the actual static's movement... just checked. No, it doesn't. I've got my view distance turned up to max as well.

Try that :

Try this:,
  • right-click anywhere in the render window and choose render window properties
  • Go to the Render Window tab
  • Make sure "Allow Render Window Cell Loads" is unchecked
  • Apply

Once you see what you want to work on, disable the "Cell Loads".

You sir, are a champ. That just made my life a lot easier. Note it doesn't seem to work until you de-select whatever you're playing with mind. Other than that it's working fantastically.

You can also access "render window" by clicking "preferences" button on the tool bar, it de-selects nothing like that. Once "Cell loads" is disabled, you can also center the view on your selected object with "T" and then press F5 to refresh the cells around your object.

Now that is handy too, I was just having a bit of fun working on a version of Umbriel from the Infernal City. Obviously since it's floating and is, well, a city, you need a large amount of huge statics in order to create it. I noticed the 'cell load' option still only loads X amount of cells around you, but it's a lot better than it was previously. Here's a pic of the sheer size of the thing - http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/805/screenshot24m.jpg/
