Retexturing Help

Post » Tue Jun 19, 2012 8:46 pm

I am applying a new stone texture to some walls and the flat sections were no trouble but I have hit a slight problem when it comes to the doorways.

I am moving the texture faces around in Nifskope to get the patterns to line up and for most part its working Ok, but some of the panels, flip, mirror or reverse themselves when transfering to the mesh making it impossible to line the pattern up.

Is there some way to change the orientation of these faces in Nifskope or do I need to use some other software?

A 3D program like blender or 3DS Max.

Oh well looks like I will have to delve into the unknown, I was hoping there was some hidden flip function in Nifskope.

Thanks

You can rotate the meshes on the UV map in NifSkope. That has the effect I think you are looking for. Right click on the face, transform>edit UV

The UV map pops up. Find the mesh you want to rotate, select ALL of the vertices for that mesh, right click on any vertice, click rotate, type in 45 (or whatever) and hit enter. Voila.

If the the UV map is really crowded it takes a bit of time to get used to working around in it. But it's very doable. The grid works pretty well for a guide.

I am in the Uv editor, some of these texures are a real mess.
There are some flat surfaces that you would think are one panel but are actually made up of 5-6 smaller individual panels.

I have tried rotating but it doesnt seem to work, these panels are being flipped over as well as turned.
