I have an animation I'd like to add or rather replace over a current. I've been searching this forum and the net for a comprehensive way to do that.

If you want only to replace original animation with new one, then you need to replace its file in proper location.
If you want to add new animation, currently, the only way leads throughhttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11811 which has edited behavior files.
