Water flow characteristics: How?

I'm a tyro at this CK, but I'm stymied by a frustrating thing about water. I've been working on a house in Tamriel Wilderness cell 9B96 (-5, -15) and whenever I place anything there, the visual appearance and the actual flow of the lake water in that cell are altered. It ends up with a stronger current apparently opposite that of the rest of the lake, which is a slow current to the NE.

I've right-clicked on the cell name in the cell window, selected Edit, but they are all the same, with "DefaultWater". If I change it to, say, RiverWaterFlowNE, the current direction is right, but still too strong and the water appearance is much more rippled than the other cells. :nope:

I must be missing something basic. Is there a way to inherit the water characteristics from one cell to another, or even to preserve the existing settings? For that matter, how can I see the actual settings?

I think I may be closer to a solution. It seems to be something to do with another mod, "realisticwatertextures". If this mod is loaded first, followed by another mod that changes something in a cell with visible water, for some reason the water in that cell is screwed up.
