$ signs before ALL text!

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 8:25 am

Hello :)

I stupidly decided to download ALL my mods from the Workshop instead of the Nexus but since seeing i-HUD decided to get the Nexus Mod Manager and download all the mods I currently had (plus i-Hud) through the Manager.

Well, now I get a really annoying error, where $ signs appear before EVERY line of text!

On the main menu it says;
"$Continue
$New
$Credits
$Quit"

It does the same on the map, in menus and also in sneak ("$Detected").

Is this a problem with the Manager, or could there be another Mod that is causing it?

Sounds like an error in your SkyUI installation?... I think I recall another user having that. It was an error in his installation. But I'm only guessing. You might double check that you have the proper SKSE, and a properly installed SkyUI through the Nexus Mod Manager (uninstall the workshop version first, installing over the top may have caused an issue).

I had this when i accidentaly deleted Translate_English.txt file in Data\Interface folder while updating SkyUI. Try verifying the game cache and see if it re-downloads it (in Steam Library, rigth click on Skyrim, select properties, select "Local Files" tab and press the "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" button).

It's something with localization...

If above suggestions don't work:

Do any of your mods have INI files? If so, one of them might be changing your sLanguage= value when loaded.

Thanks.
It probably is since I installed SkyUI through the workshop first.

I'm reinstalling skyrim to see if this can sort it, I can't be bothered with fishing through the Data folder to find the difference between the workshop and the nexus one!

Not that I'm aware of, however, I'm not really THAT technical with computers, so they probably do somewhere and I'm just being an idiot!

It seems like a strings file is missing. Try verifying your game cache with steam.

Meaning, go to your library, right click on skyrim, go to properties, local files tab, then click the button.
