Burning Fireplace and Campfire problem

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 11:07 am

Can someone please help? I've created a simple dungeon interior with a fireplace. The burning fireplace object looks great in the CK but in game the wood itself is very bright, almost solid white and very unnatural looking. I haven't added any lighting, I just dropped in the object. I tried replacing the fireplace object with the burning campfire object and I get the same result. Is this a common issue? Is there something obvious I'm missing? Thanks

are you using the HD textures DLC? It is known to cause this.

Yes, I was unsure if I should have the HD texture packs loaded while working in the CK so I didn't. I did however load them while testing the mod. Thanks, I'll check and see if that's it and I'll let you know.

Ok, first I tested the mod without loading the HD texture packs and the fireplace and campfire are back to normal. Second, I went back to my mod and loaded up the HD texture packs in the CK this time. I deleted the fireplace and dropped in a new one and saved. Then I went back to test it in game and loaded the HD texture packs and the problem was still there. I would like to play the game with the HD textures, Is there some kind of work-around for this? Is it possible to remove the fireplace and campfire textures from the HD texture pack so they aren't effected? Thanks for your help.

The textures and specular maps for the wood were mislabeled in the HD DLC. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8236 fixes that and other snafus.

As Didact mentioned -- THe HD DLC has several errors where they missed textures or saved them with incorrect names etc. causing problems with items in game like the logs in the fireplace -- the mod he linked fixes these until Bethesda corrects the DLC (which may take awhile !!) It is not a problem with your mod but a problem with the HD DLC.
