What happens when a Deadric Artifact is destroyed?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 12:27 am

Just a little question about lore. I believe it's mentioned in a quest in Skyrim but I can't seem to remember exactly where or what was said.

*also Daedric not Deadric. My bad.

This belongs in the lore forum.

Can't remember where I read it, but it just slowly reforms in it's respective Prince's realm, not unlike a dremora.

EDIT: This only happens with artifacts created by the Prince. Umbra, for instance, was permanently destroyed in The Infernal City.

Probably goes back to Oblivion. I believe all artifacts go back after time, which is why they can be found again despite being owned by the Nerevarine, the CHampion of Cyrodiil etc. This is also why you must sever Azura's influence from her Star if you want to keep it for Black Souls, because if you remove the Star's ownership from her, it has no link to her and will not fade into Oblivion.

My bad. I could argue that it's mentioned in Skyrim but that's beyond the point. I must have missed the Lore section on my way in here.

EDIT: Revised a bit and moved to the Lore section where it belongs.

I used to chuck daedric artefacts that seemed too powerful for mortal hands into the river in blackreach; I figured that it could never be seen again as long as it wasn't destroyed down there, plus it was fun watching them float away, I put the
Spoiler
staff of Magnus and the Infinium
in there. Then I though that a Falmer could theoretically get it's grubby little paws on it. And that would not be fun.

Potential DLC. Return of the Falmer Kingdom! From the depths of the world the Falmer have united after the discovery of a plethora of powerful artifacts and are now taking over all of Tamriel! D:
