Navmeshing a world space

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:24 am

I've got a few questions about this topic.

1. What's the best way to navmesh a rather small world space, like an island?

2. Is it possible to autogenerate navmesh per cell basis? Let's say I have like a 4 cell playground, can I autogenerate only in those 4 cells?

i second the manual navmeshing. i find the autogenerating feature to be really messy and you end up spending as much or more time cleaning it up than if you did it manually from scratch

Navmeshing a world space that has like 100 or so cells manually... That'll take ages.

I haven't even figured out how to MAKE a viable worldspace, even using "use data" for Tamriel at a given location...if it's supposed to inherit the terrain info from the parent location, it does not do so when I try to do it...I don't suppose anyone can write a short tutorial on how to make a local worldspace so you can set up a quest in a "familiar" area without actually modifying the area by making a worldspace that loads the terrain info so you can make your local temporary changes, teleport the player in, play out a scene, then teleport the player out?

Does anyone know if it's possible to autogenerate navmesh per cell basis? Like if I only want it to be made in 3 cells.

I accidently did it once. So I know it's possible. But Maual Navmeshing is the way to go. I've found generation to be a straight PITA.

But do you know how you did it?
