Prerecorded dialog: How do you link it in?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 12:27 am

I've got the sound files I want to use for some dialog in the correct folder (The same one the in-CK record button was saving them in) but the "Select sound" button is evidently looking somewhere else, and there doesn't appear to be a way to browse for a WAV file, only a "Hit the record button" option, which creates a file with a long name with lots of gobbledygook which isn't very descriptive of what the file is actually for.

Is there a nice simple way to get the CK to recognise my sound files? Again, they're in the same directory the CK was saving recorded dialog to...

After some more fiddling, I found a workaround. If you copy the files you want into the Data>Sound>Voice folder, and rename each one to "Temp.Wav" you can then load them into your dialogs...just do a "Preview" to make sure you're loading the right sounds into the right dialogs.

Just double click an info to open the text window, and it gives you a string of numbers and letters. (It's also a mix of the quest name and topic name, etc). Name the file after the string for it's respective line, and make sure you have it in 'Sound/Voice/MyMod.esp/SpeakingActorVoiceType/'.

Double click what info? I see nothing labelled "info" in the Topic or anywhere in the dialog recording/sound assignment areas.

Double click on the dialogue info. You know, the section of dialogue within a dialogue topic. That opens the text window where you can type in the actual dialogue, or generate lip files. It also says what you must name your sound file.

Saw that....I was just hoping there was a way to load an arbitrarily named sound file into that without having to manually go out into the file system and type in a new filename...

FWIW, you don't actually need to type out that long name--just highlight it with your mouse, ctrl+c, go to the file system, right click the sound file and choose rename, then ctrl+v to paste the correct name.
