CK Freezing on Start up

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 3:07 am

First of all I apologize if this issue has already been solved elsewhere; I was unable to find any relevant information here or at other similar CK websites.

Here is my problem:
When I try to start the CK either through my shortcut or directly though Steam it begins to open up and then stops responding before any of the inner windows appear (it's just a big blank screen with the main File...Edit...View...etc banner at the top). I have left it running for about half an hour and came back to find no change whatsoever. When I open the task manager I notice that the CK process is using exactly 3,886,852k memory. While starting up its memory usage rises rapidly and then stops at this number and does not change at all.

My computer has 8GB RAM and with the CK running high like this I am still only using about 60% memory. I have tried reinstalling the CK, rebooting my computer, etc., all to no avail.

I've used the CK on this computer before, so that leads me to think that either something I installed recently or one of the updates made to the CK is causing this problem. However the changes I have made to my computer since launch of the CK are installing ME3, GW1 and updating my graphics drivers.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated!

It may be the same issue I ran into. You're describing exactly what was happening for me.

Do you have a SkyrimEditorCustom.ini in the data directory? I did. After I deleted the file, the CK started normally for me.

Sadly I do not have SkyrimEditorCustom.ini anywhere on my computer. I only have SkyrimEditor.ini and SkyrimEditorPrefs.ini, and these are both in the root skyrim directory; not the data folder.

Thank you though for the attempt!
