Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 5:27 am

I have set a Spell Scroll as a "Favorite" expecting it to appear when I press the "Q" key; Nothing appears under magic or elsewhere on the screen ???

Am an 82 year old just startng Skyrim after playinng Elder Scrolls 2 /3 &/4'. I am lost about the SUBJECT.

Please advise this "old boy" :foodndrink:

Many thanks

I don't know if you can Favorite a Scroll. Perhaps, I have never tried as I have not had enough Scrolls of one type to want to do this..

However, to use a Scroll, you have to Equip it and you can do this in your Inventory Window. Then it is treated just like a Spell, as in you have to get Ready to Cast. You know it will work if you see a spell effect in your hand, then you cast it like any other spell. Just to note, if you don't want to cast the spell, then Unready your hands and then equip something else.

You "equip" scrolls just like any other spell. You don't get any notice about a scroll being equipped other than the magic effect visible on the hand where you equipped it. Oh, and you need to "draw" your magic out just like you would a weapon.

Just click on the scroll either in the Q menu or the inventory menu. An arrow will appear next to the menu entry to indicate that it is selected.

Now all you need to do is hold the corresponding mouse button (depending on which hand you have the scroll's spell equipped in), just like you're performing a power attack. You will then see the spell "charge up" and once the charge up animation is complete, simply release the mouse button to cast the spell.

Note that if you take damage during the charging up process, your spell may be interrupted and you may need to recast the spell again.
