I wonder why it was left there? It's past the houses between 4 rocks and the mountain side. Lots of G and l00t. Thoughts?

Well.... probably because even though stuff and gold are really easy to come by in this game, there's a lot of people who want things handed to them on a platter.

Isn't this related to the Daedra artifact found in the college basemant?

Possibly a treasure map chest.

So you can't just break into a merchant's shop (or tent, in this case) and take all of their stuff instead of buying it. Though I would like to be able to clear out a merchant's shop by stealing it.

I've heard about this and seen it on you tube. Is it a glitch or is it supposed to be there?

The devs probably thought they had it buried deep enough. Oops.

I would say the people of Skyrim are paying homage to their brave new hero !

Or... it was aliens.

Snarky response is snarky.

Possibly a treasure map chest.

I also guess this is what it is.

This is true. I emptied the chest, then sold to the khajiit in the tent outside of dawnstar.Went back and all of what I just sold was in their again. Not sure if it is just the khajiit trader in dawnstar.or if it stores from all of the khajiit caravan.Wasn't any gold in the chest.but a lot of potions, and items I didn't want in the first place.

I don't care how it got there I just thank the Gods that it's still there whenever I start a new char.

No, I believe you're confusing your invisible chests! :P http://supremegamer.hubpages.com/hub/skyrim-midden-daedric-relic-puzzle

The one on that island is from the College of Winterhold The Midden quest where you encounter the daedra Velehk Sain. He can point you to that invisible / non-existent chest.

Whereas the one in Dawnstar is considered an easter egg. Could very well be a part of a broken quest or a quest that was wholly cut from the game in the last minute.

No, I already explained it a few posts back. It's the merchandise for one of the Khajiit caravans. Easy way to test it- see what Ahkari has for sale. Empty out the chest, and put one thing back in it, then ask Ahkari what she's got for sale again.
