Easy, clean way to limit vanilla load screens?

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 4:22 pm

I'm making a new land, and I plan on adding my own load screens at some point. I figure I may as well ask while I'm thinking about it, so; Is there an easy, clean (meaning it wont create conflict) way to limit the vanilla load screens to vanilla Skyrim areas? I don't want my load screens to be mixed with all the normal ones in my land, it wouldnt make much sense. Can I say like 'Only use screens in this list' then just make a list of my own or something? The only way I can think of doing this, is to assign conditions to all the vanilla screens, and to mine to make sure mine dont show up in Skyrim, and Skyrim's dont show up in my land. But that would take forever, and be a very dirty way to do it, as any other mods that edit vanilla load screens would probably be incompatable.

Thanks for any suggestions,

i believe if you have a location based condition on your load screens it will ALWAYS load for that location.

for example on my mod i have a custom load screen that is set to load only when loading the area designated with my custom location. and it loads the loadscreen 100% of the time (at least in my tests it has been)

So you're saying that if I simply put a condition on my loadscreens that's something like 'Is in one of my new areas' that it will ALWAYS pick one of my new loadscreens?

in all of my tests, it always loaded my loadscreen as priority when the condition is filled.

i noticed vanilla location-based ones have an additional random-percent condition that forces it to go into random order or else it will always fire as well.

so i think you will be safe. load it up with plenty of conditions that you know you can meet exclusively for your worldspace.

Awesome. Thanks for all the info! I'll post back when I get around to doing this if I have any issues. :D
