Skyrim Moving Company - "Two Orcs and a Wagon"

Post » Wed Jun 20, 2012 10:17 am

I had initially posted this topic under the Mods forum, but it was suggested that I move it over here, so that's what I've done. The original thread had a pretty good response, so to fill you in on some of the points already made...
  • Perhaps it'd make more sense if the wagon was something that could be owned by our character, as opposed to a service we'd employ. The wagon could then be added/removed to our horse and it'd travel along with the character, as we saw fit.
  • I was given a very handy tip to combat my immediate moving problem - whirlwind sprint + hop on a horse + fast travel, while ridiculously encumbered.
  • Others suggested that owning a wagon could open up a whole host of quests involving the transporting of large items or beasts.
Here's a copy/paste of my original post:

"Not sure if I'm in the right section and I'm not sure if this is something that's regularly discussed and dismissed, but why not have a patch that allows for an inventory 'moving company'?

I'm a collector of sorts and have tons of inventory at my Whiterun home and was thinking that it's only a matter of time, before I'm going to want to move homes. However, it would likely take me 100+ trips to transport my inventory to a new home. Considering the trouble I'd have to go through, I'm not sure if I'll even bother with purchasing a new home and moving inventory. This nuisance might hinder me from exploring aspects of the game (other homes), but in my opinion, it could be so easily avoided...

Why doesn't every major town simply have an NPC that has a 'moving company' on the side and it's simply a dialogue option you can select/purchase? In the Main Quest line there's a spot where inventory is transferred to a chest and obviously similar things happen when you go to jail, so it seems like it'd be feasible.

Thoughts? Opinions? Reasons why I'm stupid and this will never work? "

This would actually be really helpful. I just moved from Whiterun to Solitude, and it took me like 5 trips (even using a follower and fortify carry weight items/potions) to get all the crap I've collected from one home to another. It would be really nice just to spend like 500 gold or something and have all your stuff waiting for you when you get there. Of course, half of it would be broken or stolen by the time it got to your new home.
